What is a Studio?

A studio is not a building or a room. A studio is a group of students who come to study with a skilled performer and dedicated teacher, or one of a group of such teachers, teachers in love with their art, and with imparting that art to others. It is a group of students eager to grow in technique, in understanding and in love for their art under the guidance of those dedicated teachers. A studio does not have to be in Florence or Vienna. It does not have to be on the Left Bank in Paris. It can be anywhere.

It can be right here!

Rates/payments/supplies

Each instructor establishes his/her own fees and times of instruction, and the particular materials the student should purchase, as well as his/her policy on making up lessons, missed lessons, and emergency contacts. Your teacher will give you that information when you enroll for lessons.

Payment should be made directly to the teacher from whom you are receiving instruction, in the manner that he/she finds most convenient. There are no additional charges made by Studio di Canto. You pay only what your teacher indicates

Studio di Canto Rules

The are three general rules that need to be observed and followed at Studio di Canto:

1) Be considerate of each other, of your teacher, and of other teachers who are part of Studio di Canto. Be considerate of the common spaces and equipment.

2) Be supportive of each other and of other teachers and students who are part of Studio di Canto. Help each other; we all have a common goal - to grow as artists.  If you can give a ride, a tip, or a helping hand to others who make up this community – please do so! Attend performances or recitals of other students, of students studying with other Studio di Canto teachers, and of your teachers, too, when they perform. We all benefit from a supportive and knowledgeable audience when we perform.

3) Be willing to try new techniques, styles and genres of music. Be "open" to learning new things.  Allow yourself to experience the music and it's beauty... and give yourself a chance to grow. There is no one else in the world who will interpret or perform the music exactly the same as you will.  That is your gift!  That is what you have to offer...so be willing to explore!

"...For Thou hast been my help, and in the shadow of Thy wings I sing for joy."
Psalm 65. vs.7
